No Pain, No Gain.

Some news from the Wet Coast (ie. Vancouver, BC (my city and home)).

Mike Gillis announced earlier today that Roberto Luongo has suffered a hairline fracture in his rib.

The elite goalie has said that it happened half-way through the third period Saturday afternoon when the Vancouver Canucks went up against the Toronto Maple Leafs.  Despite feeling some discomfort, he found it not enough to sit out for the following two games.  It wasn't until last night against the Detroit Red Wings did he decide that he shouldn't continue after tonight.

Tomorrow against the LA Kings, Luongo will not start.  Instead, our (yes, you heard right.  My true loyalties lie with the Canucks) back-up Andrew Raycroft will get to start in between the posts tomorrow.

Cory Schneider has gotten the call-up from Vancouver's farm team, Manitoba Moose to back-up Raycroft.

Luongo now joins the long list of injured reserves in Vancouver.  This list includes Ryan Johnson, Pavol Demitra, Kyle Wellwood, Daniel Sedin, and Jannik Hansen.

Rick Rypien and Sami Salo have been cleared to play but will not neccessarily get the start on Thursday's match against the LA Kings.
