  • Today is the 50th anniversary of the day Jacques Plante changed the world of hockey and goaltending as we know it.  50 years ago, goalies didn't wear masks on a normal basis.  But one day, Plante received a puck to the face at Madison Square Garden.  From the next period of play and forever more, Plante wore a mask.  Now 50 years later, every goaltender in the world wears either a cage helmet or mask.  Thank you Jake the Snake for making hockey a bit safer for goaltenders.
  • New York Yankees win their third game of the World Series.  They defeat the Phillies once more 7-4.
  • Alex Ovechkin has joined the many on the injury list.  In the second period of the Caps game against the Jackets, he left the game.  After the game, he said it was an upper-body injury and is day-to-day until further inspection.
  • Boston Bruins celebrated its birthday today!!  Today, they turn 85-years-old.  Happy birthday!
