  • Sidney Crosby has been named the winner of the Lionel Gonchar Award.  The award is given to the Canadian male athlete chosen by the Canadian Press annually.
  • Trade talk: the Washington Capitals have traded captain Christ Clark and Milan Jurcina to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Jason Chimera.
  • Team Canada's juniors won their second-straight game.  After defeating Latvia 16-0 on Boxing Day (26th), they defeated Switzerland 6-0 today.  Against Latvia, Brandon Kozun scored the hat trick.  Today, Brandon McMillan scored one.  Jake Allen wins with back-to-back shutouts, too!
  • Who said Swedes were quiet people?  One listen to Mikael Samuelsson and one would be proven wrong.  Then again even his team-mates (both Sweden and Canucks) say that he plays more like a Canadian then a Swede.  To see what I'm talking about, just click here and you'll know.
  • Clara Hughes and Cindy Klassen secure their spots on Team Canada for the 2010 Olympics after winning gold and silver at Calgary.  They'll be competing the women's 3000-metres speed skating track.
