  •  Vancouver Canucks' defenceman, Mathieu Schneider, has been placed on waivers after missing several games due to personal reasons.  Plus, he hasn't been playing like he did last season.
  • Aleksandra Wozniak won the title of the Canadian Press's Athlete of the Year.
  • 'Tis this?  Speed skater Cindy Klassen will not be heading to Vancouver for the Olympics.  Instead, Kristina Groves will be going after winning gold in the 1000 m.  And that's where she's competing in 2010.
  • TEAM CANADA ALERT! If you care about Team Canada, I highly (very, very much so) suggest that you tune in at 09:00 PT/12:00 ET on TSN, ctvolympics.ca, CTV, Sportsnet, OLN, OMNI, APTN, ATN, /A\, CP24, NHL Network.  Or you can listen on The Fan 950 Toronto, The Fan 960 Calgary, or Corus Quebec's CKAC Sports.  My house will defintely have every telly tuned in.
  • Preston North End FC's manager, Alan Irvine, has been fired by chairman Derek Shaw after a disappointing performance 
  • Another engagement party is in order!  Internazionale's Wesley Sneijder is set to be married to his long-time girlfriend and mother of his son, Yolanthe!
Just because this was too good to pass up on.  Liverpool FC defeated Aston Villa 1-nil!  Fernando Torres scored at the 90' to win the game for the Reds!
