The French Game

New Jersey Devils vs. Montreal Canadiens @ Le centre Bell
2-1 Final OT

The Devils were meant to play back-to-back games today, but because of yesterday's lighting malfunction, they are playing a game and a-half in 2 days.

4 minutes into the game, Jaroslav Halak was beat by Travis Zajac on the backhand.  Not happy with that, Travis Moen dropped the mitts with Mark Fraser.  The two of them would exchange a couple of hits and a lot of shoves before being separated by the linesmen.

Without our second in scoring Andrei Kostitsyn, our second line could still produce some.  Roman Hamrlik made the quick wrist shot on net and just stoned by the post!  But Scott Gomez had a bit of luck and got the rebound and shot in the puck for the PPG!

None of the two teams were able to pull another goal out of their hats so we head into OT.

Down in the New Jersey end, Martin Brodeur made a timely save against a Hab (that I couldn't see).  That timely saved started it all.  Travis Zajac sent the puck up the ice for Zach Parise.  Parise skated down the ice and beat his man to beat Halak.

This was a lot better than what I've recently seen the Habs play.  There were a couple of good chances, but we were playing Marty Brodeur.  Only your best can beat him - and that's only sometimes!

3 stars:
(1) Martin Brodeur
(2) Jaroslav Halak
(3) Travis Zajac
