Vancouver Canucks vs. Dallas Stars @ American Airlines Center
In a conference where a team out of the playoff spots is only two points behind, Vancouver look to hang in 7th place while Dallas looks to defeat us to get into the playoff picture.
First period: no scoring, but blood. 2:14 into the game, Darcy Hordichuk and Krystofer Barch had one hell of a fight. Punches were thrown and received like kisses on New Year's Eve! The energy these two had was quite contagious! I was even tired after that fight!
1:30 in the next period, our latest Olympian scores a goal! After just having completing the change, Samuelsson passed the puck to the young Mason Raymond. Mason danced into the zone then fed Ryan Kesler (the Olympian) in the shooting lane. In the free lane, Kes wristed his puck up, rang the crossbar, and into the back of the net for his 11th of the year!
The Stars had a chance to get on even ice before the end of the period, but after video review, it was deemed it went in by a kicking motion. So... "NO GOAL!"
After 18 shots in the first two periods, Luongo's shutout ends 37 seconds into the final period. Loui Eriksson ended the shutout with a shot above Captain Canuck.
2 minutes after that goal, Canucks re-gain the lead! Henrik Sedin worked the ice down low to bring it around the corner. A pass to his twin, Dany, and what do you know. Dany failed to set up Alex Burrows for the goal, but instead got the goal! A lucky deflect off of Trevor Daly's skate and it's past Marty Turco!
Trailing by one and just a minute left in the game, coach Marc Crawford pulled Turco for the extra attacker. 45 seconds went by, and then the attempt to pull level failed them. (I haven't said this in a long while so don't mind me) Frick and Frack, with the 2-on-1, eased into the zone. Kes took a shot at the net, but got the side of the netting. Then Burrs picked it up off the boards and netted his 11th of the year into the EN!
That's a great way to end the road trip (3-0-1) and a great way to bring in the second half of our season!
