  • Junior Trade talk: You know what sucks.  After having your probably worst preformance of the tournament (World Juniors), you get traded from your junior club to another the day you get back.  If you haven't figured it out, Jake Allen has been traded from the Montreal Junior Hockey Club (QMJHL) to the Drummondville Voltigeurs (QMJHL) in exchange for a first-round draft pick.  And in the WHL, Scott Bonner (GM) traded former starting goaltender Jamie Tucker to the Prince Alberta Raiders.  The Vancouver Giants received a second-round draft pick in 2011 in return.  And to support Mark Segal at the Giants' bench, is Derek Tendler (called up from Estivan Bruins of the SJHL (Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League)).
  • Washington Capitals have some new contracts they can wave around.  Tyler Sloan and David Steckel have signed new contract extensions.  Sloan was signed to a 2-year extension; Steckel for 3.
  • Woes in the world of Staal's.  Eric Staal's sister-in-law has recently lost the fight against cancer.  My condolences and the best regards to Eric, his wife, Tanya, her family, and friends.  I only wish the best from here and I think she'll be in a comfortable place.  That is not all.  After naming Team Canada and relaxing under the Florida sun, Steve Yzerman hastily flew back to BC to bury his grandmother.  His grandmother was 95 when she passed away.
