2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs
Game 6: Buffalo Sabres vs. Boston Bruins @ TD Banknorth Garden
3-4 Final; Bruins win series 4-2
(Title is Vanessa Carlton's White Houses)
The Sabres had their Stanley Cup hopes and dreams on the line tonight. Were the Big Bad Bruins enough to scare away the Sabres?
Normally a game of these two seeds wouldn't be a great buzz if Buffalo didn't have as brilliant a season than it did this past season. And the Bruins had a horrible, bad-luck season, but it all seemed to come together for the playoffs. Boston barely made it into the post-season (that was how bad it was) but once they were guranteed that spot, they showed why they were given the spot.
Buffalo wasn't an easy task to defeat. Ryan Miller was the talk of the series. Could he carry the Sabres like he did Team USA in the Olympics? Could he be just as stellar and ninja-like? And then there were skaters like Tyler Myers. Rookie, barely legal, and a Calder Trophy candidate. Him and Zdeno Chara were the giants in the match and they were put up against each other a lot.
All those questioners can hush now; they have an answer for all. Tuukka Rask out goaltended the Sabres, the Bruins' stars plaed like stars, and their role-players played their roles very well. And knowing that it was crunch time, they pushed for that win.
I was one that didn't believe that Boston could make it out of this series as the winner, but I was proven wrong along with many. This was something unexpected and just a minor upset. But what will Boston do in round 2?
