Les nouvelles

  • Playoff updates!  Sorry about missing yesterday, but I was beat!
    • NHL
      • Chicago/San Jose: Chicago won on the road with a 2-1 win.  They now lead the series 1-0.
      • Montreal/Philadelphia: Philly won 6-0.  Just disappointing.  Philly leads now 1-0.
    • AHL
      • Texas/Hamilton: Hamilton took a 3-1 win over the Stars to lead the series 2-0.
    • Memorial Cup
      • Brandon/Moncton: Brandon got their first win of the round robin with a 4-0 shutout win over the QMJHL Champions.
  • IIHF WHC scores updates!
    • USA/France: USA get their second win of the tournie by going 0-4 over the Frenchmen.  IIHF
    • Italy/Kazakhstan: As expected(?), Italy won 2-0 over Kazakhstan.  IIHF
    • Denmark/Russia: Russia continue undefeated with a 6-1 win over Denmark.  And Pavel Datsyuk got a hat-trick!  IIHF
    • Latvia/Norway: Latvia went 5-0 over the Norweigians.  IIHF
    • Germany/Belarus: Germany lost to Belarus 2-1 after OT.  IIHF
    • Sweden/Canada: I was speechless for a lot of this game; even more so after the score said 3-1 Final for Sweden.  IIHF
  • Who didn't expect this?  Jose Mourinho and his Italian club Internazionale have won the Serie A league title with 82 points.  One goal was all it took.  At the 57', Diego Milito got the goal to seal the deal for their title.
  • What a win by the Washington Stealth to come from behind to beat the Toronto Rock in the NLL Championship!  Oddly enough, I was cheering for the Rock because of the fact how dismal most Toronto teams are.  The Rock broke away from the pact to give the Ontarian capital something to cheer for.
  • FC Barcelona win back-to-back La Liga titles with 99 points after a 4-nil win over Valladolid.  Congrtas, but I hate you still and always will.  (But I like you Xavi!)
  • Rafa Nadal continues his better-than-last season!  Having to face Roger Federer in the Madrid Open Finals, Nadal brought down the #1 tennis player in two straight sets - the last going to a tie-breaker.  TSN Tale
  • Happy birthday Jean-Sebastian Giguere (33), Kyle Wellwood (27), Rick Rypien (26), and Corey Perry (25)!  I'd like to see Welly re-signed for his birthday, Rypien stay just the same, and Perry win the gold medal the WHC to complete his already star-studded resume.
