  • 2010 FIFA World Cup update:
    • No games for today or tomorrow.  No vuvuzelas... no football... no smexy footballers... till Thursday.
  • First and foremost, I have to announce the retirement of Carolina Hurricanes Rod Brind'Amour.  Brind'Amour has played 21 seasons in the NHL, 10 of which with the Canes.  I've respected how this defensive man played with an offensive edge.  Having won the Selke twice, he is a great man and I hope retirement does him well.  Hurricanes cap his career
  • In the footy world, just because the World Cup is going on doesn't mean that clubs are taking a break.  The BBC UK has got it going around that Manchester City have signed winger David Silva from Valencia for an undisclosed fee.  Rumour has it that it's 5-years.  BBC chats
    • And Everton FC have signed Leighton Baines to a new contract the club.  The contract sees that Baines is at the club for 5 more years (if no trade occurs).  Every Everton fan should read
  • In Wimbledon, an early favourite has been outsted of the competition.  Roger Federer has been eliminated from competition by Tomas Berdych.  The 6-time champion, 7-time finalist has made his earliest exit of the tournament since...  a long while.  With this loss, Federer will also be seeded 3rd in the world rankings (woah!)  Federer elimination
  • Tiger Woods' ex-wife, Elin Nordegren, has received a hefty paycheque.  After all the paperwork, all the drama, all the heartbreak, and all the papparazzi, Nordegren has received $750 million in divorce settlement in exchange for silence (according to the Brits).  the Province reports
