Les nouvelles

  • Calgary Flames' Craig Conroy has announced his retirement earlier on Friday.  But he's not gone from the NHL or the Calgary scene.  Conroy has accepted the position of Special Assistant to the GM instead of going on with his playing career.  True to himself, he ended the announcement with a smile that could light up a room.  Flames
  • On his return from the injury list, Evgeni Malkin suffered another injury.  In the game against the Buffalo Sabres, Malkin had to leave the game early due to another lower-body injury.  TSN
  • The Boston Bruins' Daniel Paille was handed a 4-game suspension for his blindside hit to Raymond Sawada (Dallas Stars).  TSN
  • In a post before, I had announced Edwin van der Sar's planned retirement at the end of this EPL season.  To accompany him, Gary Neville will depart from Manchester United and the sport at the end of this season as well.  The Guardian
  • Gossip time!!  FC Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is said to be a father once again!!  Huntelaar's girlfriend Maddy is pregnant once again.  Will 2-year-old Seb get a baby bro or baby sis?  Dutch source
    • Some more gossip!  Rumour has it that Arsenal's Nicklas Bendtner and his [ex-]girlfriend Caroline Fleming have called it quits.  With a 13-year difference (she's older) and a [soon-to-be] 1-year-old son between the two, it was hard to say this wasn't coming.  Plus, Bendtner is a bit of a party boy.  Kickette
