  • Last night, EJ McGuire passed away in Toronto after a battle with cancer. At the age of 58, he leaves behind a wife and two daughters. McGuire will be remembered for the many memories and the importance he held in many franchises and in the NHL as the Scouting Vice-President. RIP McGuire and you will be remembered for what you have done! NHL
  • This was announced earlier; Raffi Torres of the Vancouver Canucks has been suspended four games for his hit-to-the-head on Edmonton Oilers' Jordan Eberle on Tuesday. This means he will miss the remaining two games of the regular season and two games in playoffs. NHL
  • Adam Foote (Colorado Avalanche) will lace up his skates for the last time on Sunday April 10th. Foote has announced his retirement from playing in the NHL and that he will not return to lace up for the 2011-12 season. Official announcement will be on April 8th, at 11 a.m. MT (10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET) Avalanche
  • So... I dunno about my emotions on this one. I'm just kind of... put out by it(?). NBA superstar LeBron James has announced a deal that has him in a small stake in the ownership of Liverpool FC. Source
  • OHL/QMJHL/WHL playoff updates:
    • OHL
      • Niagara Ice Dogs take game 1 and now lead the series 1-0 against the Oshawa Generals
      • Owen Sound Attack took the first game in OT to take a 1-0 series lead against the Plymouth Whalers
      • St. Michael Majors and Sudbury Wolves haven't played yet and thus are tied at 0-0
      • Saginaw Spirit and the Windsor Spitfires have yet to play and also are at 0-0
    • QMJHL
      • The QMJHL have yet to play the second round of their playoffs. Games start tomorrow.
    • WHL
      • Kelowna Rockets have kicked off the second round of the WHL playoffs with a win over the Portland Winterhawks and now lead the series 1-0
      • Saskatoon Blades and Kootenay Ice will kick their series off on Friday
      • Medicine Hat Tigers and Red Deer Rebels will also play on Friday
      • Spokane Chiefs and Tri-City Americans will play their first of their series on Saturday
