So before we start anything, I would like to have a moment of silence for the 96 who lost their lives at Hillsborough on the date on the banner above. You'll never walk alone.

And whomever was looking forward to a "Playoff Game of the Day" post today, I am sorry. I had a basketball all-stars game at my school to do today and made it just in time to catch the second period instead of watching the game on a phone. But you get a news update! (Again, sorry!)
  • Thomas Di Benedetto is now the new owner of the Italian football club AS Roma of Serie A. The contract is worth €70 million. Source
  • LA Kings forward Jarret Stoll has been suspended one game for his shoulder-hit on San Jose Sharks' Ian White. NHL
  • CHL playoffe update:
    • OHL
      • Niagara Ice Dogs grab a big 7-3 win over the Oshawa Generals to win the series 4-1 and onto round two they go!
      • Windsor Spitfires and the Saginaw Spirit are tied up in the series 2-2
      • Mississauga Majors and the Owen Sound Attack await to see the winner of the Windsor/Saginaw game before the conference finals commence
    • QMJHL
      • With a win on Friday, the St. John Sea Dogs are on to the second round, winning the series 4-1 against the Victoriaville Tigres
      • In the first OT period, the Shawinigan Cataractes defeat the Quebec Remparts but are behind the Remparts 3-2 in the series
      • In the second OT period, the Montreal Junior grab a win to pull the series to 3-2 led by the Lewiston MAINEiacs
      • Gatineau Olympiques grab a win over the Drummondville Voltigeurs to go up 3-2 in the series

      • Portland Winterhawks took till OT, but they won it to win the series 4-1 against the Kelowna RocketsT
      • Spokane Chiefs and the Tri-City Americans are still tied up 2-2 in the series
      • Medicine Hat Tigers continue to lead the Red Deer Rebels 3-1 in their series
      • Kootenay Ice await the series winners before the conference finals' puck drops.

      • Tampa Bay Lightning took a win on Friday to tie the series 1-1 against the Pittsburgh Penguins
      • Washington Capitals took a shutout win over the New York Rangers to go up 2-0 in the series
      • Buffalo Sabres lead the Philadelphia Flyers 1-0 in the series
      • Montreal Canadiens lead the Boston Bruins 1-0 in their series
    • West
      • Vancouver Canucks took a razor-close win against the Chicago Blackhawks to go up 2-0 in the series
      • After a rally of effort from the Nashville Predators, the Anaheim Ducks keep their lead on Friday and tie the series at 1-1
      • Detroit Red Wings lead the Phoenix Coyotes 1-0 in the series
