  • Gossip: German international and FC Koln striker, Lukas Podolski, has married long-time girlfriend, Monika Puchalski, in a civil ceremony on Monday, April 18th. The pair have a son, Louis, who was born in 2008. Source
  • The Calder Trophy has its candidates! Who are up for the rookie-of-the-year award? Logan Couture (San Jose Sharks), Michael Grabner (New York Islanders), and Jeff Skinner (Carolina Hurricanes). Any surprises? (There shouldn't be.) Any guesses who will win? (It's either Skinner or Couture. But I'm saying Couture. The deal breaker: he's in the playoffs.) NHL
  • Suspension time! Pittsburgh Penguins forward Chris Kunitz and Tampa Bay Lightning forward Steve Downie have both been suspended one game for their actions on Monday's game. NHL
  • CHL playoff update:
    • OHL: Conference Finals
      • Eastern Conference finals: Mississauga Majors grabbed a shutout win over the Niagara Ice Dogs and go up 1-0 in the series
      • Western Conference finals: Owen Sound Attack took a massive win (1-8) over the Windsor Spitfires to take the first game of the series and go up 1-0
    • QMJHL:
      • It took a Game 7, but the Quebec Remparts defeated the Shawinigan Cataractes with a big score (2-9) to win the series 4-3, and onto the semi-finals they go!
      • The other three teams in the QMJHL semi-finals are the St. John Sea Dogs, the Lewiston MAINEiacs, and the Gatineau Olympiques
    • WHL:
      • Spokane Chiefs defeat the Tri-City Americans 4-2 in the series and are on to the WHL Conference finals
      • The teams that are awaiting the start of the WHL Conference Finals are the Portland Winterhawks, the Kootenay Ice, and the Medicine Hat Tigers
  • AHL playoff update:
    • East:
      • Hershey Bears defeat the Charlotte Checkers by a single goal to go up 2-1 in the series
      • Manchester Monarchs double the Binghamton Senators in score and are now 3-1 in the series
      • Connecticut Whalers defeat the Portland Pirates to tie the series up at 2-2
      • Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins won Game 3, but the Norfolk Admirals remain up in a now 2-1 series
    • West:
      • Manitoba Moose drop Game 3 to the Lake Erie Monster, who now lead the series 2-1
      • Hamilton Bulldogs lose Tuesday's game to the Oklahoma City Barons, but they still lead the series 2-1
      • In OT, the Texas Stars defeated the Milwaukee Admirals and lead the series 2-1
      • Houston Aeros won Tuesday's back-to-back game and swept the Peoria Rivermen 4-0 in the series
  • NHL playoff update:
    • East:
      • Philadelphia Flyers took a huge road win to lead the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 in the series
      • Boston Bruins won Game 3, but the Montreal Canadiens continue to lead the series 2-1
      • Pittsburgh Penguins won Game 3 and now lead the series 2-1 against Tampa Bay Lightning
      • Washington Capitals continues to lead the series 2-1 against the New York Rangers
    • West:
      • Vancouver Canucks got blown out of the waters against the Chicago Blackhawks, but still lead the series 3-1
      • After being behind 4-0 after the first, the San Jose Sharks summon six goals to win in OT and now lead the series 2-1 against the LA Kings
      • Detroit Red Wings took a huge win over the Phoenix Coyotes to go up 3-0
      • Nashville Predators lead the Anaheim Ducks 2-1 in the series
