I hope all of y'all in B.C. are enjoying our new holiday! I sure am. Unfortunately, our weather had other plans. Of course when we're all excited to not have to work (sorry to those who do. At least you get holiday pay!) our Vancouver weather says, "It's a Monday. You get Monday weather."
But if you have grown accustomed to the typical Vancouver weather and still want to do something, here are a couple of things I've found.
Hot Chocolate Festival
If you haven't already - or you just want to go again - the hot chocolate festival continues despite the weather. Personally, this is perfect weather to go to the festival! What other way would be better to spend this rainy Monday than to bundle up warm and fashionable, and to grab a cup of hot chocolate and some timbits? Okay, maybe not the timbits (since they're not participating), but all the cafés listed provide some yummy goodies.
Participating locations: Blenz Coffe (603 Abbott St., 232 Howe St., 2506 Granville St., 695 W Broadway), Beaucoup Bakery & Cafe, Bel Cafe, Bella Gelateria + To Die For Banana Bread, Chocolate Arts, Chocolaterie de la Nouvelle France, Coconymph Chocolates & Confections, East Van Roasters, French Made Baking (my personal favourite little café), Koko Monk, The Last Crumb Baker & Cafe, Schokolade Artisan Chocolate & Cafe, Thierry Chocolaterie, Patisserie, & Cafe, Thomas Haas Chocolates, UVA Wine Bar, Gem Chocolates, Leonidas Chocolates, Soirette Macarons & Tea, Terra Breads
Robson Square Ice Rink
Most of you already know, this ice rink is free skating if you bring your own skates. But if you have to rent your skates, it's $4 normally.
This year's Family Day, though, rentals are free 12:00-16:00 (12-4 p.m.) plus free hot chocolate! Seriously, hot chocolate makes everything better. If you can't make it till after 4 o'clock, no worries! The rink will still be open till 9 p.m.
50% Off Lift Tickets
If you haven't heard yet and you have got the time and means, many resorts are offering 50% off lift tickets. So grab your skis and boards and get on the mountain!
These resorts are offering the 50%: Apex Mountain Resort, Big White, Crystal Mountain, Fairmont Hot Springs, Fernie Alpine Resort, Grouse Mountain, Hemlock Resort, Kick Horse Mountain Resort, Kimberly Alpine Resort, Manning Park Resort, Mount Cain, Mount Washington, Panorama Mountain Resort, Phoenix Mountain, Red Mountain Resort, Revelstoke, Silverstar, Sun Peaks, Whistler Blackcomb, Whitewater

Sunset Community Centre has a bunch of family-fun stuff! So if you wanna spend time with the kids in your family, go on down to the centre!
The itinerary for the day:
